How-To: Update an iOS App

Important: You will need to know your Apple ID and password to update.

Go to the App Store, located on the Home screen of the iOS device.

Tap the “Updates” button at the bottom of the App Store.  iOS version 13 has removed the Updates button at the bottom of the App Store.  Here is how to update your apps in iOS version 13.

Find the App in the list and tap “UPDATE” to the right of it or tap the icon. Tapping the icon will bring up another screen, giving more information on the update. Tap “UPDATE” on this screen.

You may be asked for your Apple ID Password. Enter your password and Tap OK to allow the update.

A progress bar will appear. Once this has finished, the update has completed. Click OPEN.

Update an app with iOS 13
  • Tap on the App store icon to begin.
  • Tap on the Today tab at the bottom of the screen.
  • Click on the user profile icon at the top right of the screen.
  • Scroll down to the section “Available Updates”. A list of apps that have updates available are listed. You can click on Update All, or scroll down to the app you wish to update and click on Update.
